Elsa Dreisig (soprano) “You often set limits for yourself before they exist,” says Elsa Dreisig. This is certainly not true of the French-Danish native, who is rapidly establishing herself as one of today’s most captivating lyric sopranos. As an exclusive recording artist with the label Erato, in January 2022 Elsa released her third album, Mozart x 3, featuring arias from W.A.Mozart’s three Da Ponte operas and three opere serie. The composer occupies a central place in her career. At the Paris National Opera, she has appeared as both Pamina (Die Zauberflote) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni). In 2020 Elsa sang the role of Fiordiligi in a new production of Cosi fan tutte at the Salzburg Festival and this season she returns to the character in a Da Ponte trilogy at the Berlin State Opera under Daniel Barenboim, while being also cast as the Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro) and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni). Elsa’s interpretations stand out through her commitment to continually uncovering new facets in a role. This also means transcending historic constructs so that the performance comes to life in a believable way. For the soprano, no female personality – whether Manon, Violetta or Fiordiligi – should ever be a victim. “It’s the modern blood that flows in my veins and should also flow into my singing,” she explains.
Jonathan Ware (piano)
Acclaimed for his exemplary and spirited playing, song accompanist and chamber musician Jonathan Ware is a regular guest in the world’s leading recital venues, with recent appearances at Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center, Elbphilharmonie, Philharmonie Luxembourg, L’Auditori, the Concertgebouw, Theatre des ChampsElysees and the Pierre Boulez Saal. Highlights in 2023/34 include a new collaboration with Samuel Marino at the Sala Sinfonica Pablo Casals in Puerto Rico; a return to Carnegie Hall with Simon Bode and a UK tour with clarinettist Jonathan Leibowitz taking them to West Wight Arts, Bath Mozart festival and Falkirk.
Nikola Nikolov (violin) Born to a Bulgarian family of musicians, Nikola Nikolov began violin studies at age 8 in Nice. The Cannes Orchestra Academy deepened his passion for orchestral music. Opting for music over aviation, he specialized in chamber music at the onservatoire National Superieur de Paris. His dedication led to performances at notable venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris. Joining the Orchestre de Paris in 2008, he became principal second violin in 2021. Programme
