"FILM MUSIC" – SONYA YONCHEVA AND FRIENDS
"I have always perceived myself not so much as a singer who performs on stage, but rather as an actress who sings for her audience! That’s why I decided to pay tribute to some of the most beautiful songs from cinema and present them on my home stage. The inspiration for this came from my mother, Temenuga."
Sonya Yoncheva first presented her program "The Singing Actress" with great success at the Baden-Baden Music Festival in 2023. On that occasion, she performed popular film melodies from the 1930s and 1940s. However, the Bulgarian audience will be treated to even more exciting surprises—alongside Hollywood film classics, the concert will feature beloved songs from Bulgarian cinema. One such highlight is the iconic "Zamachli, zamalchi" from the movie "Favorite 13". The prima will share the stage with the original performer of the song, jazz legend Mimi Nikolova, in a duet marking the eve of the beloved singer's 87th birthday. This will be an extraordinary encounter of generations, genres, and emotions! The globally popular crossover style (the blending of different musical genres) promises an unforgettable experience for all attendees at one of the most beautiful and prestigious cultural venues in Europe—the Amphitheater in Plovdiv.
The event "Film Music" is supported by the Municipality of Plovdiv, and the musical accompaniment will be led by maestro Nayden Todorov, conducting the orchestra of the State Opera Plovdiv.
