Actress, entertainer, music artist, film & TV producer, fashion designer, entrepreneur and
humanitarian Jennifer Lopez has been called one of the most powerful and celebrated
celebrities in entertainment.
She has sold over 55 million records worldwide and starred in multiple box-office #1 films,
including “Monster-In-Law” and “The Wedding Planner.” In 2001, “The Wedding Planner”
was the nation’s top-grossing film, while her album, “J.Lo,” was #1 on the Billboard Top 200
Chart. The two simultaneous #1 honors made Lopez the first woman in history to have a #1
movie and #1 album in the same week.
In May 2011, Lopez released her highly anticipated album, “LOVE?,” on Island/Def Jam
Records. The first single, “On The Floor” (featuring rapper Pitbull) shot to #1 in 18 countries
and became the most downloaded song of her career. The music video set an all-time record
making Jennifer the first female artist on Vevo to rack up 100 million views in the shortest
amount of time. The music video has become the most watched music video by any female
artist in the history of YouTube, logging in over a staggering 450 million views. The year has
been filled with many accolades and awards including the American Music Awards Best
Latin Artist of the Year and Glamour Magazine named Lopez as “Woman of the Year” with a
cover on the year end issue.
The “Love?” album brought together some of today’s hottest producers, songwriters and
superstar artists, including producer, RedOne, Stargate, Taio Cruz, Tricky Stewart, The-
Dream, Danja, D-Mile, and Radio. Lady Gaga also collaborated on two tracks, “Hypnotico”
(which she co-wrote) and “Invading My Mind” (which she co-produced). Rapper Lil Wayne
is featured on “I’m Into You.” “LOVE?” was executive produced by JLO, RedOne, and
Antonio “L.A.” Reid.
In addition to returning for Season 11 of “American Idol” in 2012, Lopez will launch the
groundbreaking series “¡Q’ Viva! The Chosen” along with choreographer Jamie King and
Marc Anthony. As co-executive producer and star, Lopez will travel throughout South
America to discover and meet outstanding Latin singers, dancers, musicians, and performers.
Premiering January 2012 on Univision, the series will document an extraordinary
transcontinental road trip to bring viewers the drama and intense emotions of the incredible
stories and personal journeys that they will uncover.
Two major films co-starring Jennifer Lopez and a guest character role in a popular animated
film series will be released in 2012. Lopez will co-star in the romantic comedy film, “What
To Expect When You’re Expecting” (Lionsgate Films) slated for May release. In fall 2012,
Lopez will co-star opposite Jason Stratham in an adaptation of the crime/thriller literary
series, “Parker,” directed by Taylor Hackford.
Lopez’s lent her voice to the character of Shira, a sabre-toothed tiger, in the new animated
film, “Ice Age 4: Continental Drift” also scheduled for release in 2012.
Lopez’s production company, Nuyorican, is in development on several film and TV
productions that includes a partnership with 20th Century Fox, including the romantic comedy
“Taming Ben Taylor,” in which she will star as a top-notch real estate agent who wins over a
rugged vintner; “Help” for ABC; “Sweet Little 15,” which tells a young Mexican girl’s
coming-of-age story as she plans her Quinceañera; and the teen television comedy and book
series, “Amigas Sweet 15 Club,” which will follow five teens in Miami who run a
Quinceañera (Sweet 15) business. Lopez has a burgeoning reality television department that
includes the production “South Beach Tow” for TruTV.
Nuyorican is also working on notable film projects, including “The Governess” and a remake
of the hit 1980s comedy “Overboard.”
Lopez recently starred in the film “The Back-up Plan.” She had last been seen in the feature
films “El Cantante,” a drama about the life of salsa legend Hector Lavoe, and “Bordertown”
opposite Antonio Banderas – both of which she produced.
She made her feature debut in the highly acclaimed “Mi Familia,” which garnered her an
Independent Spirit Award nomination for her role as the young mother, Maria Sanchez. Lopez
earned widespread acclaim for her work in the title role of “Selena,” which brought her a
Golden Globe Award nomination. In 2002, Lopez was awarded ShoWest Female Star of the
Year, and in 2006, Lopez received the Women in Film: Crystal Award. Additionally, the
National Council of La Raza, the largest Latino advocacy group in the nation, named her
Entertainer of the Year at the American Latino Media Arts (ALMA) Awards.
Her other film credits include Lasse Hallström’s “An Unfinished Life” with Robert Redford
and Morgan Freeman; Oliver Stone’s “U-Turn”; “Maid In Manhattan”; “Money Train”;
Francis Ford Coppola’s “Jack” with Robin Williams; “Blood and Wine” opposite Jack
Nicholson; Luis Mandoki’s “Angel Eyes”; “The Cell”; Steven Soderbergh’s “Out of Sight”
with George Clooney; Michael Apted’s “Enough”; and “Anaconda.”
Via Nuyorican, Lopez made her foray into the role of television producer with her reality
show, “Dance Life,” as well as the drama “South Beach Tow.”
Lopez set the branding standard for celebrity fragrance, apparel and accessories. Her latest
fragrance, Love and Glamour, marked 17 successful launches, taking in over $1 billion
combined. A new fragrance, Glowing, will launch in 2012. In 2006, Lopez was awarded with
the prestigious ACE Fashion Icon of the Year for her contribution to accessories and the
fashion industry. Lopez launched an exclusive fashion collection with Kohl’s in the fall.
L’Oreal has named her their latest Ambassador. Gillette will feature Lopez in the global 2011
premiere Venus / Goddess campaign. Gillette established the Venus Goddess Fund for
Education that enables global educational opportunities for women through partnerships.
Sharing the similar initiatives, Lopez’s Maribel Foundation and the Venus Goddess Fund
have formed a partnership as a part of the campaign.
Lopez’s dedication to assisting children in need and to the empowerment of others is farreaching.
The Girls & Boys Club of America has named her their national spokeswoman.
Gucci is featuring Lopez in a national advertising campaign along with her twins Emme and
Max launching its children collection. The campaign will benefit UNICEF.
Her commitment to making a difference and her passion for making this world better is
highlighted through her work with children via The Maribel Foundation, a not-for-profit she
started with her sister, Lynda. The Maribel Foundation is dedicated to improving the health
and well-being of women and children, and raising the level of medical care available to
them. The foundation is currently working with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on a
“telemedicine” program that will help underserved communities around the world to be
treated with state-of-the-art technology and by top doctors. The organization opened its first
telemedicine center in Puerto Rico in 2010 and will open a new center in Panama in 2012.
